Criteria for category placement

  • If the climber flashed all the routes in a category, they were moved to the next category up.

  • If the climber completed 1 or more zones on a minimum of 3 routes in a category they were moved to the next category up. (i.e. if a climber hit the first zone on 3 advanced climbs they were moved into the advanced category.

  • IF the climber flashed at least 2 routes in a category they were moved to the next category up.

What is Equinox?

  • Our Equinox Competition is a celebration of the new life and energy brought by the Spring season! Every year we host a fun, casual yet challenging, climbing competition scored in a “Modified Red Point” system. It’s time to wake up from winter hibernation and conquer new routes inside and outside of the gym!

    Whether you are a beginner or an experienced competitor running the local circuits, you will find something that challenges you at our Equinox 2024!

  • We are hosting our Equinox Competition on Saturday, April 27!

    *Please make sure you sign up prior to the day of the event, we are not taking any “day of” registration

  • Climbers can sign up for Rapp Rocks Equinox 2024 Comp at the front desk or online through our portal!

    Please make sure to sign up before the deadline, we will not accept any “day of” registrations.

  • Yes! We will have separate categories. However, when purchasing your ticket, it only matters if you are Youth (under 13) or Adult (over 13).

    There will be separate awards for Boys and Girls as well as Women and Men.

  • Basically all routes are open to all climbers!

    Each climber gets 3 attempts on each route (all with a 3 minute time limit).

    Categories will be assigned based on the amount of points accumulated during the competition; this encourages climbers to try as many climbs as possible.

  • Scoring is based on how high the climber gets up the route.

    The last hold the climber used before they fell is how many points they get for that route.

    If the climber tops the route they get the total points for that route. The highest score out of the 3 attempts will be the score used.

  • There will be 3 sessions scheduled for our Equinox Comp (Youth & Adult)

    8am - 11am

    12pm - 3pm

    4pm-7pm

  • We ask all competitors be at Rapp Rocks 30 minutes before their session start time. We will have a Competitors Meeting to go over the rules 15 minutes prior to each session.

  • Yes! We are looking for volunteers. If you have any questions or are interested in helping out (we’ll hook you up with a couple day passes and some Rapp Rocks Equinox 2024 Apparel) please reach out to nic@rapprocksclimbing.com.
